Best Practices for Filming in Barnesville

Encouraging film production is an economic development tool that Barnesville and Lamar County communities support. It provides temporary jobs for local residents and generates local revenue bolstering small businesses. One of Georgia’s signature industries, motion picture production is an essential source of economic activity, tax revenue, jobs and tourism.

Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Barnesville and Lamar County's Film Credits include scenes anticipated in Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The Tag Team Production group came in November 2019 for about 5 days filming in Downtown Barnesville. It is now streaming on Disney+ (March, 2021)

The Mediator
The Mediator

In 2020, the pandemic all but shut down the film industry across the country but in August of 2020, "The Mediator" became Georgia's first film shot completely free of COVID cases. They chose Barnesville to shoot many locations because we are simply, easy to work with! It's an independent film currently being pitched for a theatre or television streaming service. It has already won international acclaim. The Mediator is a mental health thriller with twists and turns.

Deraney's Two City Tavern
Restaurant Impossible

In March 2021, Restaurant Impossible chose local restaurant Deraney's Two CIty Tavern for one of its new season locations on the east coast. This episode is expected to air in late June or early July starring Chef Robert Irvine.

Arts, Audio-Video Technology & Communications Career Cluster Audio & Video Technology & Film I Course Number 10.51810 Course Description: This course will serve as the foundational course in the Audio & Video Technology & Film pathway. The course prepares students for employment or entry into a postsecondary education program in the audio and video technology career field. Topics covered may include, but are not limited to: terminology, safety, basic equipment, script writing, production teams, production and programming, lighting, recording and editing, studio production, and professional ethics. Skills USA and Technology Student Association (TSA) are examples of, but not limited to, appropriate organizations for providing leadership training and/or for reinforcing specific career and technical skills and may be considered an integral part of the instructional program. All material covered in Audio & Video Technology & Film I will be utilized in subsequent courses. The pre-requisite for this course is advisor approval. 

 

   Arts, AV Technology & Communications Career Cluster Audio Video Technology and Film II Course Number: 10.51910 Course Description: This one credit course is the second in a series of three that prepares students for a career in Audio Video Technology and Film production and/or to transfer to a postsecondary program for further study. Topics include Planning, Writing, Directing and Editing a Production; Field Equipment Functions; Operational Set-Up and Maintenance; Advanced Editing Operations; Studio Productions; Performance; Audio/Video Control Systems; Production Graphics; Career Opportunities; and Professional Ethics. Skills USA and Technology Student Association (TSA) are examples of, but not limited to, appropriate organizations for providing leadership training and/or for reinforcing specific career and technical skills and may be considered an integral part of the instructional program.

 

  Arts, AV Technology & Communications Career Cluster Audio Video Technology and Film III Course Number: 10.52010 Course Description: This one-credit transition course is designed to facilitate student-led projects under the guidance of the instructor. Students work cooperatively and independently in all phases of production. Skills USA and Technology Student Association (TSA) are examples of, but not limited to, appropriate organizations for providing leadership training and/or for reinforcing specific career and technical skills and may be considered an integral part of the instructional program. 

 

  Arts, AV Technology & Communications Career Cluster Broadcast Video Production Applications Course Number: 10.51410 Course Description: Broadcast Video Production Applications is designed to facilitate student-led projects under the guidance of the instructor, as well as provide opportunities for students to master skills necessary to gain entry level employment or to pursue a post-secondary degree or certificate. Students work cooperatively and independently in all phases of production. Topics include advanced camera techniques, audio production, scriptwriting, producing, directing, editing, employability skills, and development of a digital portfolio to include resume’, references, and production samples.
