Continental Tire of Barnesville manufactures tire cord fabric for Continental Tire.
The plant has been in operation since 1888 where it operated as a cotton mill, producing tire cord fabric in the early 1920s. In 1930, the plant was sold to General Tire & Rubber Co., which was purchased by Continental A.G. in 1986. Continental Tire the Americas, LLC was formerly known as Continental Tire North America, Inc. and changed its name to Continental Tire the Americas, LLC in February 2010. The company was founded in 1983 and is based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Continental Tire the Americas, LLC operates as a subsidiary of Continental Aktiengesellschaft.
